The months of July and August are special, as it is when many people traditionally take their vacations. But it is special for another reason as well: it is the half-way point of the year. And while we might prefer to be sipping lemonade at the beach, it is a useful time to look at our progress as well.
Consider these three questions:
For many people, the year goes by without even a passing consideration to their progress towards their personal or professional goals. Thinking about them half-way through the year gives you a chance to re-commit to them, or make a change.
Go through your notes, your calendar, and your performance review, looking for the goals you had previously committed to. If some of them need to be changed, then change them. But more importantly, plan how these goals will be achieved during the next six months. Once this is done, you can truly enjoy your vacation.
